With the marathon coming to an end yesterday, July will bring with it another busy summer season. The Chamonix Mountain Festival which started on Friday is well worth attending if you have a passion for mountaineering. Welcoming all levels of abilities, it will be a great way to meet new climbing partners and to learn and share techniques and knowledge with likeminded people.
If you prefer your hobbies on solid ground then the Chamonix Yoga Festival could be right up your street. The new event will take place at the Majestic (close to the Brevent lift) on the 4th-5th-6th of July. Lead by renowned yoga teacher Simon Park, there will be 12 different disciplines to try out as well as Musical performances, a “Zen” market and a fantastic organic lunch menu provided by the L’impossible restaurant based in Chamonix Sud.
If any festival captures the vibe of the town it has to be the Chamonix Adventure Festival. Running from the 7th to the 10th of July, Think of it as an end of term presentation from some truly inspiring athletes, film makers and explorers. Kicking off with a collection of short films and a BBQ at MBC; Artwork, Films and photographs will be on display documenting some unique exploits and telling some incredible stories. But, it’s not all about spectating. Book onto one of the 2 day courses and improve your film making or photography skills under the guidance of professionals.
So the first half of July is looking pretty good and with More races to be run, Thermals to be flown, trails to be ridden and rocks to be climbed why not get yourself to the Mountains!
