The Perfect Night Out in Verbier

Verbier is one of the best known names when it comes to Alpine escapes, especially amongst the rich and famous, but it has so much more to offer than just clout. Off-piste skiing is one of the biggest draws in Verbier with several back-country runs actually serviced by the resort’s lifts, making Verbier’s off-piste far more accessible than off-piste elsewhere. Don’t worry, though, if you truly want to be the only skier on your run, you can book in with a guide for heli-skiing to access truly pristine, untouched slopes. Fortunately for those with a bit less experience, there’s still plenty of fantastic skiing in Verbier for beginning and intermediate skiers. For the little ones, Swiss Ski School’s Kids Club is an excellent option.

Looking for more than just skiing on your vacation? Verbier also has some of the best shopping in the Alps, including everything from art and home decor to winter sports apparel and equipment. You’ll also be surprised by the amount of galleries, museums, and other cultural activities in the area; there’s plenty to keep a family entertained off the slopes as well as on. Of course, whether you’re 18 or 88, no trip to Verbier would be complete without popping into at least one of the village’s bars, whether your vibe is funky nightclub, raucous party, or a more mature wine bar.

Après Ski in Verbier

Après ski is all but obligatory in Verbier. The party starts mid-afternoon up on the slopes, where Bar 1936 is the perfect place to lounge on the deck in the sun. The laidback atmosphere at this yurt bar is ideal for a chat, a mug of hot wine, and even a nosh from the restaurant’s selection of grilled meats. Bar 1936 usually features a live band. At L’Ice Cube Bar the vibe is ever so slightly more upscale, with a resident DJ giving the terrace a lounge feel. Happy hour here is every afternoon from 3-4pm, and the restaurant offers a range of quick bites like burgers and hot dogs.

Apres at the Ice Cube Bar Verbier

Once you’ve made it down the slopes into Verbier village, the party only gets more raucous. Check out the Farinet Hotel’s après Ski bar. Here is where you’ll find the legendary Verbier après ski scene you’ve been promised. The location in the centre of town, sliding roof, and live bands, make this the place to be. If you can manage another stop (or just fancy a change of scenery), the rooftop terrace at Le Rouge boasts a live DJ and a fantastic view of the village. Not up for dragging toddlers through the throngs of partygoers? Offshore Cafe is a great après ski alternative for families with little ones in tow.

Verbier has the best Apres Ski Bars in the Alps

If you think you’re up for continuing your après ski straight through to the wee hours, Pub Mont Fort is the perfect choice. The après ski bar takes on a night club vibe as the night goes on, so you could easily party here until the early morning. When you’re in need of a meal but don’t want to end the party, head over to Fer a Cheval, which offers après-ski and operates as a pizzeria until 11pm.

Night Clubs

When you’re ready to rally from your après-ski (or when you wake up from yesterday’s party), you’ll be impressed by Verbier’s range of nightclub options. The resort offers so much more than just casual après-ski. In operation for more than 45 years, The Farm Club remains one of Verbier’s most famous nighttime spots. It oozes class, and it’s easy to imagine celebrities flocking to this institution – that is, if you don’t spot them in person. At the Hotel Farinet Lounge, enjoy the live DJ performances (which continue from the afternoon’s après ski all the way until 2am) and the lounge’s menu of fantastic craft cocktails.

If you’re looking to segue your dinner into dancing, check out Etoile Rouge Supper Club or Carve sushi restaurant. The dance floor at Etoile Rouge Supper Club is open until 4am; you can book for dinner and dancing, or just pop in later and head straight to the dance floor. Carve offers an upscale lounge vibe where you can enjoy sushi and sake.

Lounges & Bars

Loud dancefloors and crowded terraces not your scene? For more of a laidback lounge feel, visit The Bar at the Nevai Hotel. The mixologists here whip up new and interesting takes on classic cocktails; you can stick to the bar or enjoy a fabulous meal at the restaurant. For wine enthusiasts, Cav & Art is the perfect choice. The wine bar offers both tastings and wine by the glass or bottle. You can also pop in here to shop local Swiss and imported wines to take home with you. They make the perfect souvenir, but we won’t tell if you pop a bottle open to enjoy while soaking in your chalet’s jacuzzi.

If you’re looking for something more casual, the Farinet South sports bar is the perfect place to grab a brew and catch your team’s match. Tbar at Central Hotel has a little bit of everything — from après ski to late night partying — but we love it most for playing live sporting events. Big Ben Pub guarantees a good time in a casual and laidback atmosphere (don’t miss the local Sovayarde food, too).

Fine Dining

While the nightlife may overshadow it, Verbier actually boasts a compelling array of fine dining options, too, which are not to be missed. If you can carve out time between your après ski and late night partying, try one of these options for a delicious meal:

La Rouge Resturant is a Verbier must for food and entertainmentWhen it comes to critical acclaim, La Table d’Adrien is the place to be. This Michelin-starred Italian restaurant serves tapas and full meals that are almost too beautiful to eat. Visit La Caveau for the best in local flavour. The raclette fondue here is some of the best around. If a local experience is more what you’re looking for, try Chez Dany, which offers breath-taking views from high up the slopes and will shuttle you to and from the restaurant via snow taxi in the evening. Once you’ve fuelled up with any of these delightful local eats, you’ll be ready to return to the party.
