Whether you’re a non-skier, or you’re simply looking to take a break from the mountain to rest those weary legs, Verbier has some of the best off-hill activities to guarantee your Winter holiday is packed full of fun.
At Verbier, the adventure doesn’t stop just because you’ve taken a day off from your skis or snowboard.
Once you’ve mastered the snow, why not try the ice? Strap on your ice-skates and head to Patinoire du Centre Sportif, where you can gracefully glide across their ice-skating rink during public sessions held Monday through Saturday each week.
Feed your need for speed as you race down Western Switzerland’s longest toboggan run, starting from the summit of Savoleyres and taking you all the way down to La Tzoumaz. At 10 kilometres long and with a drop of 848m, this toboggan track is sure to get the adrenaline pumping!
If you’re after some fun for the whole family, a dog sled ride through the forest with Chiens de Traineau is the perfect activity for little and big kids alike! Sit back and enjoy the scenery on a guided tour, or learn how to take the reins yourself and lead your own team of energetic husky dogs.
Satisfy the thrill-seeker within as you scale some of Val des Bagnes’ beautiful frozen waterfalls on a guided ice-climbing tour with Les Guides de Verbier. Catering to everyone from first-timers to experienced climbers, Les Guides de Verbier have tours to suit all difficulty levels. Les Guides de Verbier also offer half and full day snowshoe tours.
Get your heart and legs pumping on a hike up the majestic Mont Fort or across the Corbassiere Glacier, taking in all the breathtaking alpine scenery along the way.
There’s a reason why they say you haven’t experienced après-ski until you’ve been to Verbier. From casual afternoon drinks by a roasting fireplace, to waking up still in your ski boots after an epic all night party, Verbier has got the après-ski scene to suit wherever your night takes you!
There’s nothing quite like stopping by Bar 1936 or L’ice Cube Bar on your home run down from Les Ruinettes to warm up with a glass of vin-chaud or kick back with a pint or two as you watch the sun setting behind the peaks.
Place Centrale and the surrounding streets are always bustling with a lively apres-ski crowd from last chair til late, making it the perfect base for your night out in Verbier.
In the heart of it all is Le Farinet which is home to three of Verbier’s best night spots – the rambunctious Après-Ski Bar with dancing on the bar and live bands every day, the refined Lounge Bar with smooth DJs and over 30 signature cocktails, and the sports-bar-slash-nightclub hybrid, South, where you can catch the game then celebrate (or commiserate) your team’s efforts on the dancefloor until 4am.
A short stroll down Chemin de la Tinte you’ll find Pub Mont Forte, where the fun kicks off with happy hour from 4-5pm every day, and kicks on right through til last call. Pub Monte Fort is also infamous for holding some of Verbier’s wildest parties throughout the season!
For those with no intention of catching the first chair in the morning, Verbier’s nightclubs are all about partying until sunrise. For weekly events, killer cocktails, and an awesome DJ line-up, dance your night away at Etoile Rouge.
If you’re looking for a nightclub with a sophisticated edge where you can mingle with the elite, look no further than The Farm Club. Considered a Verbier institution, no trip to the resort is complete without treating yourself to a night out here.
A foodie’s delight, Verbier is a veritable hotpot of award-winning restaurants, Michellin Star chefs, and cuisines from all over the world just waiting to tempt your tastebuds.
For a high-altitude dining experience, look no further than Chez Dany or Le Dahu. Perched amongst the mountain peaks, both restaurants serve up fabulous food and stunning 360-degree views.
The Michellin-starred La Table d’Adrien specialises in the best authentic Italian cuisine this side of Milan. At Restaurant Arola, you will find world-renowned and Michellin-starred Catalonian Chef Sergi Arole bringing a taste of the Mediterranean to the Alps.
Relais des Neiges offers up regional Valais cuisine at a reasonable price point, savoured by locals and tourists alike.
Of course, no trip to the Swiss Alps is complete without sampling some traditional fondue and raclette, and the famous Le Caveau at Place Centrale has kept visitors raving about their deliciously cheesy fare for generations.
After a long, hard day carving up the mountain, what could be better than treating yourself to a little R&R? Go on, you deserve it…
Fortunately for your tired limbs and tight muscles, Verbier has an abundance of spas and wellness centres that can tend to your every whim, and have you feeling refreshed, rejuvenated and ready to get back out on those black runs!
